Sometimes I think about creation, that nothingness that turned into something-ness and everything-ness in days. How did a small bug come into existence - with all working parts, the instinct to hunt for food and live, mate, and contain a million really cool things about it, making it totally unique - how did it just happen alongside a trillion other creatures, all with their own amazing features? How can all this happen in an instant? What kind of chaos was in play at that time? Was there lightening, energy, light and dark - mass and gas filling the atmosphere, all creating creation?
How did whales get their voices and worms get their ability to cleanse our soil? What about the ecosystem and how it all interlocks into existence perfectly? Well, we have a perfect God and a God that is everything, so everything right down to the cells of every living thing is created perfect, and for a purpose. Wow. God created the earth and the sky and the sea in four days then the next day, He created living creatures. I’m inclined to believe that these living creatures that walk, run, slither, fly, jump, swim, crawl, chirp, howl, roar, squeak, yell, squeal, buzz all came into being with somewhat of a bang! Surely as the light exploded and formed these amazing creatures - large and small, there was a bang of some sort! It’s actually way too big to try and fit into my small brain so I decided to paint it. I started painting my canvas with clouds and explosions, then made the birds appear in the sky. The colours dripping off the top and colours forming represents Gods colour pellet - his creativity in motion. Why then, not add another animal on the opposite scale of a bird - a whale? These majestic mammals represent the sea and it’s inhabitants - the sea and sky were separated on the first day, making room for living things- and they also represent opposite ends of a scale. And why were these creatures created? We know some of then are for our food and clothing, but there are so many more that we dont ‘need’ as such . . . Why do they exist on this earth? I asked God this question and I believe I got the answer and it is for the same reason that we are here too. And that is to worship Him. Every living creature worships the Lord; some sound so beautiful like a song you could never replicate; some look beautiful beyond imagination and others fill in that perfect line in the eco system that connects all living creatures to give them the ability to worship the Lord. There is another facet to this too; every time I see an insect or animal that has such intricacies, it fills me with so much wonder, honour and respect for our living God - it allows me take time to appreciate the details that scientists are still discovering! What kind of God could be so amazing and so thoughtful and so genius to create these creatures? Our Lord is. He is the great I AM. And how wonderful that we are given the opportunity to have a relationship with Him! After all, we are made in His image too, and every living thing that exists on this earth carries a perfection that reflects God’s glory. That’s when I picked up my bible and the painting came together . . . Genesis 1:20 - 22 And God said ‘’Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly across the expanse of the sky” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to it’s kind. And God saw that this was good, God blessed them and said “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase in the earth. So my painting is the fifth day - the day the sea creatures and sky dwellers came to be - before everything on the land was created . . . A small piece of perfection orchestrated by Abba Father. Worthy are you, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honour and power, for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created Revelation 4:11

An eagles eye came into my mind recently, it was flickering around, active, watching, alert.
What does this mean and is the eagle a good thing or a predatory warning? Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagle’s, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Let’s take a look at the mighty eagle: Eagles SOAR. They catch the updraft to lift them into flight - they can’t actually flap their wings for too long as the strength it takes will drain energy and kill them. Eagles need to be smart and conserve their energy. Living on HIGHER GROUND, the eagle will wait for days until the right updraft appears, then launch off, soaring into the wind. If we are the eagle, our wings must be our faith, trust, belief that we will fly on the wind (Holy Spirit) to reach our destination: ‘Not by might, nor power, but my spirit: Zech 4:6 We learn to launch and soar when the Holy Spirit prompts us. Listening for that prompt is so important! The wind beneath our wings is light but strong, keeping us in flight. It is important to remember it is HIS spirit that we fly on, not our own strength or skills. How much faith does it take to step off a ledge and catch a thermal? The eagle will starve if he doesnt leave the ledge, so he is an expert at reading the wind. This must take patience too, as one mistake could cost it’s life - the wrong draft could force the eagle to land lower, or use up too much energy trying to get off the ground. His patience is tested on the ground also, the eagle is known to sit outside a rabbit hole for hours, waiting for it’s meal to appear. Eagles are master fishermen. They lock in their prey and swoop down to catch it. Fast, accurate and clever. Their eyesight is immaculate, they can find their prey from a huge distance. Eagles fly alone. David was alone when he took on Goliath as was Peter stepping out of the boat - oh hang on, no they weren’t, God was with them as He is with us - then, now and forever - just as the eagle can’t fly without the wind. Eagles are bold, powerful and courageous, attacking huge SNAKES, going into the middle of the STORM - they are weapons of precise destruction - killing machines. I don’t believe the eagle fears anything - “greater is he who is in us than who is in the world.” If we really know who we are in God, we know that no weapon forged against us shall prosper and that we have the power to stamp on snakes and lions, we have the authority to do as Jesus did on the earth - and MORE! He tells us this so many times in His word . . . believe it!! Another feeling I get from the eagle is majesty. The eagle commands respect and it is royalty - just like us, but do we really know we are? These majestic birds remain faithful for life, they remain with the same partner forever . . . Beautiful. The absolute coolest thing I discovered about eagles is that they have TWO sets of eyes! The first set of eyes is their original resting, everyday eye. The second set comes into play when the eagle is flying on the thermals, and through storms, to protect it’s original set of eyes. We have two sets of eyes - the natural set and the spirit eye. Our natural eyes take in the world around us and carry us through our day. Our second set of eyes, I believe, was revealed to us when we are born again. These are our true eyes that show us his perspective - God’s Eye View! These eyes help us get through the storms, they reveal our Father’s nature to us and show us the big picture. Our natural eyes will see a problem in the world - maybe it’s an offence the enemy is starting in your heart. This offence has potential to grow and grow until we lose sleep, friends, trust and faith. Satan wants us using these eyes 100% of the time, but opening our spirit eye will take us to the place ABOVE the storm, and show us God’s perspective - maybe it was an overreaction, maybe we need to repent and rebuke pride, idolatry, jealousy or anything else hidden in this storm that we can rise above. Once we see things from God’s Eye View, it’s not such a big deal and we are able to ride through the storm quickly or change the atmosphere to contain and calm it. Storms always seem huge when we are inside, living it, but rising above or stopping it allows us to look at it from God’s perspective, which shows the storm as way more insignificant than our natural eye would see it. The last thing that the eagle carries is fearlessness. He stands out, there’s no camouflage - who needs to hide band blend in when you are a regal, precise killing machine who is able to endure storms with ease? This creature is bold and courageous- as we are called to be. He knows what he needs to survive, he searches it from afar, finds it and locks it in his sight. He endures storms to get to it and nothing stands in his way! His precision and accuracy is perfect - he dives down and gets what he needs, conserving energy to get back to the higher ground with ease. He soars through the air, relying on the wind to keep him elevated, Job 39: 27-29 “Does the eagle soar at you command and build it’s nest on high? It dwells on a cliff and stays there at night, a rocky crag is it’s stronghold. From there it looks for food; its eyes detect it from afar. “ We are to dwell on the rock, waiting for the Holy Spirit to show us when to launch off and soar through the sky, through storms, above the lions and snakes and showing us what we need to feed on, and destroy, in order for us to return home to safety, at the end of the day(s). Psalm 103: 2-5 “Praise the Lord, o my soul, and forget no all His benefits - who forgives all your sins and heals all you diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things, so that YOUR YOUTH IS RENEWED LIKE THE EAGLE’S.” Do we believe that God has made us in his image? Perfection in health, emotions, spirit and soul - maybe the diseases we carry are the snakes that will be shown by the Holy Spirit. Snakes we have authority to destroy and trample on, snakes that stop us from standing on the rock, snakes that stand between ourselves and who we are destined to be. God wants to renew our youth like eagle’s - and now I know that means like: royalty, strength, precision, purpose, faith, patience, trust in the wind (Holy Spirit), brave, solid, alert, courageous, watching through God’s perspective and feeding from the word. Every day. I painted this eagle in a prophetic workshop, to remind me that I am God’s creation and I have the power and faith to soar with the Holy Spirit guiding my wings, and that I hold all the characteristics of an eagle - and more. The eagle is soaring above the city - he sees all. I felt this eagle is a protector and guardian, a reminder that Jesus is coming soon - He is coming for a spotless bride, we are being watched - and prepared. We are made to soar like an eagle, one the wind that is our helper - the Holy Spirit, who will help is reach the heights we are destined to get to. |
